IDEA: Engineer-in-Training Program

Foreign-trained engineers seeking work experience required for licensure in Canada should be provided with the opportunity to work for one year as an Engineer-in-Training. Community based training agencies should coordinate the work placements and the Professional Engineers of Ontario (@!#$) should act as the clearinghouse for employers by providing them with information about the program as well as referring employers to the appropriate training agency to register as a provider of work placement opportunities. Foreign-trained engineers who are enrolled in such a program should be granted Associate Member status in the @!#$.
