If you are a visitor here I’ll tell you from experience it’s goin to be alittle hard.

Firstly it’s very hard to get a doctor to see your wife seeing that they’re not taking new patients but if you do get a family doctor to take her then you’ll have to have about $5000 canadaian to cover the cost.

$3100 for the hospital this is for 24 hrs only this cost includes $600 for your baby and $2500 the mother.

and an additional $2350 for the doctor who will be attending to her this cost includes $1000 for delivery $900 anaesthesia services and 2 visits to the doctor before delivery,

every follow up visits after is $30 the breakdown of the anaesthesia service is as follows Epidural during labour $500,

Epidural for c-section only(if taken) $400 Epidural in labour followed by C-section delivery $900 and Baby resuscitation (only) $100.

Surgical assisitant fee if c-section delivery $300 all this is payable before delivery of the baby if you don’t have OHIP.

The good thing however is if your wife doesn’t require anaesthesia service during labour some of the money will be refunded.

The hospital fee quoted is from trillium health there number is 905 848 7100 ext 2496(finance dept)a further word of advice if you don’t have ohip for your self and your spouse then you will need to bring extra money for any further medical visits for your baby and your wife.

Please note if you have no documents showning that you intend to stay in Canada ohip will not be provided to the baby.

The parents has to have some type of refugee claim or sponorship claim inorder to apply for ohip.

This is what was told to me by the ohip office when I applied for my son’s ohip.

Also note that you can apply for private insurance before five days on your arrival to canada however it does not cover pregnancy.

    Gracias
