I thought Canada was a very nice country for pursuing undergraduate studies leading to a Bachelors degree, and well, even though I was treated like a human scum at their Embassy in Caracas, I still believe it is, however for Venezuelans it may not viable. Here’s my case, I’m 21 y/o Venezuelan guy, planned pursuing a college degree in Canada, applied, got admitted into a university, started the student authorization application at their embassy in Caracas, did the medical examinations, everything seemed to be going perfect, I was pretty glad with the idea attending college there, but up to the last minute, my student visa was rejected, the reason, the most ridiculous I’ve ever heard, they were sorry but due the current social problems of Venezuela I was considered risky onto moving illicitly to Canada, they didn’t care that I was admitted into a university already, didn’t care I showed my parents bank statements proving the funds, didn’t care about my explanations of why I wanted to go there, acknowledging they didn’t have time to hear them. It was an upsetting moment for me; I was being denied admission to a country just because of my nationality, there was no other reason. I think Canadian immigration authorities are being very intolerant and discriminational towards anyone holding the Venezuelan passport at this moment. If anyone is considering studying in Canada, I advise considering other options in other countries and not to consider Canada as the primarily one. Canada sucks!!
