To all of you perspective immigrants to Canada, «WARNING», it’s not what you think it is! I am a Canadian who immigrated here as a child in 1967. Well 39 years later I am now a tax paying young adult. Here’s you first hint, I earn $70,000/year to which the Feds immediately scoop up $22,000 off my cheque. Then every purchase I make they grab 14%. Every time I fill up our cars they take about 40% of the value of a litre. If you smoke they steal about 70% of the price of cigarettes. Throw in your property taxes, the rising price of food, the rising price of housing, rising tuition fee’s, ridiculously high cost of day care ($25 daily), there’s not much if anything left in the kitty!!

Second of all I married a woman from South America 6 years ago. She is university educated and is fluent in three language, two of which happen to be Canada’s official languages. Well after 6 years she is lucky if she has had 3 interviews in her field. The only employment she has been able to secure is as a translator for a call center. And yes we have a lot of call centers screaming for immigrants to take advantage of by paying them low wages and treating them like 3rd class people.

So take it from me, an immigrant who grew up here, Canada used to be the land of milk and honey, now it is the land of high taxes, low wages and a bleak future. We’re leaving!!!
